Teddy Newton, Derek Connolly Behind New Pixar Film
Teddy Newton, a well known story artist at Pixar, and director of the well-received short Day & Night is rumored to be on the marquee as director for an upcoming, and as-yet-unknown Pixar feature film.
The young screenwriter, Derek Connolly, who has but two projects to his name (according to IMDB), is said to have let the cat out of the bag in an interview with Variety. He is rumored to be writing the script.
There has been no official word from Pixar on any upcoming films beyond Lee Unkrich's Untitled Dia de los Muertos Film, which is currently scheduled for release in the fall of 2015. Rumors were also swimming around an Andrew-Stanton-directed Finding Nemo Sequel. If these are the next two films to follow the announced lineup, then we could see the release of both films in 2016.
Brave For Your Consideration Ad No. 1
The awards season must be upon us once again, as indicated by the public release of a “For Your Consideration” ad for Pixar's 2012 flick, Brave.
Studios often publish these kinds of ads in media outlets likely to be seen by members of voting bodies of awards shows, most often the Academy Awards. Movies released earlier in the year are sometimes forgotten, so the studios try to find discreet ways of keeping their films at the forefront of voters' minds. Brave will almost certainly receive a nomination, but with the recent surge in high-calibur animated films, the competition has been awfully stiff the last few years. This year is no exception.
