It's been a long time since the Pixar brain trust has come together to crank out an original animated short, but it's about to happen again. In an interview published today, Andrew Stanton revealed that he and Pete Docter are collaborating on a new Pixar short.

Despite rumors that he's already committed to John Carter sequels, Stanton is still involved with Pixar, and plans to be for some time. Hopefully this will put some of those rumors to rest. In response to a question about what he has going on at Pixar he responded:

As a matter of fact I'm developing a short film with Pete Docter. There's an idea that he and I have had for years that we are finally getting around to doing which is kind of funny. We are both way too busy, but we just love the idea of doing this one little project together . . . I've spent twenty years trying to make this my home; I'm not about to leave it.
